We received a call from producer Fiona Oates, who was part way through filming a new documentary about dating for ITV Anglia. She'd already filmed a grand ball - run by a fellow agency. Now she was looking for something a bit more exciting.
We sent Fiona the calendar and - from the 180 events in it - she chose skydiving as the one she would most like to film! We quickly talked her out of that when she learned that some of our tandem jumpers had to attend three days just to get the right weather for jumping. Instead, we proposed a day of rally karting and off-road 4x4 driving at Wildtracks, near Cambridge, which would go ahead whatever the weather.
The 'whatever the weather' throwaway remark proved a somewhat unwise choice of words when heavy rain over the previous few days turned Wildtracks superb facility into a bit of a mudbath. Nonetheless, nobody seemed to mind; the smiles said it all.
In any event, everyone cleaned up beautifully and enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch afterwards at The Maid's Head in nearby Wicken.
RSVP would like to thank all those who participated plus Wildtracks and The Maids Head, Wicken for being so generous and accommodating.
The result was shown on 29 December, ITV Anglia, and viewers really got a feel for just how muddy it's possible to get on a singles event! |
